Inspiring Future Leaders Through Global Service

Updated: Mar 15, 2023

Do you know what time it is? It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for… it's time to share the winning pitches from #GLAMVirtual with Arm! The culmination of this leadership and STEAM program is to create, record, and submit a business pitch. Expert insights shared by Keynote Speakers from Arm and stellar mentoring sessions with Chelsey Baker, Founder and CEO of National Mentoring Day, prepare girls aged 8 to 12 for this culminating Final Mission task.

Over a dozen incredible young entrepreneurs rose to the challenge and submitted their own unique business pitches! All of the business ideas include themes of helping others and one of the United Nations 17 SDGs, also known as the Global Goals. They address topics such as clean drinking water, education, homelessness, recycling, and wellbeing. We are so proud of all the girls who completed this task. There’s no doubt they will be leading the future in STEAM and business. Let’s watch the winning pitches now!

Charlotte, 10, 1st place, Believe in Badges

The purpose of Believe in Badges is to inspire and motivate children to learn and to follow their dreams. Charlotte designs these badge pins using the Scratch coding program.

It’s clear that Charlotte thoroughly prepared her business plan and pitch! Charlotte’s public speaking skills are strong, her presentation is well-structured, and her delivery was practiced and well-paced. We can’t wait to see what’s next for her! Learn about Charlotte’s Believe in Badges business:

Adya, 11, 2nd place, Brighter Kids

Brighter Kids helps improve vital life skills through fun game-based learning. Adya has designed the app for young children, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), aged 3 to 8 years old. Learn about Adya’s Brighter Kids app.

Amelia, 11, 3rd place

Good Deeds is a “social good” app that encourages users of all ages to complete random acts of kindness and charitable actions for others. Daily tasks help users make positive impacts in their communities and, by extension, the world. Learn about Amelia’s Good Deeds app.

Layla, 9, 4th place

Many homeless people are unable to stay in shelters because they have pets. Layla recognizes that animals are good for our wellbeing and mental health, so she seeks to establish welcoming facilities for people and their pets through Home. Learn about Layla’s organization, Home.

A special “thank you” to our amazing corporate sponsor, Arm, who has been partnering with GLAM since 2018. We’re also incredibly grateful for all the Arm volunteers—Keynote Speakers, coders, and judges—as well as our Ambassadors who helped make this GLAM Virtual event such a success!
